CORIUM
After metal, leather.
Seneca writes that in Sparta, leather struck with the state’s stamp passed for coined money: someone who owed it was in debt, just like someone who owed gold coins. In Rome, a tessera was also the token used to collect a share of grain or money. Today people pay with a card, and the card goes in a pocket. TESSERA, the first piece of CORIUM, is a card holder. On the front it carries the BROKEN HEARTS mark, in silver.
